T-Bag

T-Bag formed in Lisbon in the late 1990s, with João Pedro Almendra on vocals and David Santos on guitar. They released their self-titled debut album in 1999, which found an audience with its mix of rock and electronic textures. The band's lineup also included Diogo Santos on bass, Carlos Ferreira on drums, and João Pinheiro on keyboards.

Their 2001 album 'Falsas Memórias' included the song of the same name, which became a hit in Portugal. The track's lyrics about memory were read by some as political commentary, which drew both criticism and support. Other songs from that period, like 'Outra História Triste' and 'Vazio Profundo,' carried a similar melancholic weight.

T-Bag's music often addressed difficult subjects, and their willingness to do so kept them in Portuguese conversations throughout the early 2000s. They were known for a sound that pulled from different styles without settling neatly into one category.
