Tabloide formed in 1986 with Augusto Licks on vocals and guitar, Flavio Basso on bass, and Beto Lee on drums. They came out of Brazil's late-80s underground scene, drawing from hardcore punk. Their debut album 'Pânico na TV' arrived in 1989, and its title track became a kind of teenage rebellion anthem.
Their sound mixed aggression with political commentary and surprisingly catchy melodies. Songs like 'Distancia' and 'O Ultimo Dia' show that blend. They released a second album called 'Dia Lixo' which solidified their place in that era of Brazilian rock.
The band's lyrics and stage presence sometimes drew criticism from conservative corners. They broke up in 2004, with talk of internal conflicts, but reunited for shows in 2006. Their catalog includes four studio albums and three live records.
