Tabulero formed in 2007 in Salvador, Brazil, with an original lineup that included Chico Orpheus on vocals, Ruy Moreira on guitar, Pilão on bass, Gabriel Aragão on keyboards, and Felipe Sousa on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2010 and featured the song "Ela Vai," which became a hit on Brazilian radio. The band's sound pulls from reggae, samba, and Afro-Brazilian rhythms.
After their debut, Tabulero released the album "Vai Lá" in 2013. Around 2015, Chico Orpheus left the group and was replaced by Pedro Pondé, who became the new lead singer. The band has put out several more records since then, including "Outras Viagens" in 2016 and "Terra do Som" in 2019.
Some of Tabulero's songs, like "Princesa" and "Quando eu te vi," show their melodic side, while others have drawn attention for lyrics that touch on social issues. Their music has been both praised and criticized for its political content, with some listeners seeing it as a reflection of the band's own views.
