Taina Araujo is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Salvador, Bahia. She grew up hearing samba, bossa nova, and MPB, and started singing in local choirs. Her debut album 'Entre Barcos e Portos' came out in 2004.
Her second album 'Longo Tempo' arrived in 2007, and its title track became a hit. The song 'Longo Tempo' is a ballad about lost love. Other songs like 'Sai Fora' and 'Vou Dançar' also appear in her catalog.
After 2007, she released albums in 2012, 2017, and 2022. In 2010, she had a legal dispute with her record label that kept her from putting out new music for a while. She faced some criticism about cultural appropriation in 2017, which she addressed by saying her work came from a genuine appreciation of Brazilian culture.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
