Tainá e os Guardiões da Amazônia

Tainá e os Guardiões da Amazônia formed in 2003 as a collective of indigenous musicians from various Amazonian tribes. The group includes Tainá Kanindé on vocals, Kayapó on drums, Gotô Mura on bass and guitar, Tuyuka on flute and vocals, and Yawanawá on percussion. Their music blends traditional chants with contemporary rhythms, a sound heard on albums like their 2004 debut 'Guardiões da Amazônia' and 2009's 'Cru-cru Eu Vou'.

Their song 'Cru-cru Eu Vou' became something of an anthem for rainforest protection, with lyrics calling for unity and action. Other tracks like 'Ninguém É Melhor do Que Ninguém' and 'Amigos' reflect similar themes of community and environmental awareness. The group has performed internationally, including at the United Nations, to advocate for their cause.

Some within indigenous communities have questioned their use of Western instruments and styles, but the band maintains that music can bridge cultural divides. Their work aims to support sustainable practices and indigenous communities in the Amazon through both performance and activism.
