Taisla Hengel started singing at local festivals in São Roque do Canaã, a small town in Espírito Santo. In 1998, producer Rick Bonadio signed her to Sony Music, and she released her self-titled debut album that same year.
Her 2005 song "Autor Desse Projeto" became her most recognizable work, with its melody and lyrics connecting with listeners across Brazil. Another track from that period, "Fúria do Mar," also found an audience.
Around 2010, she had a legal dispute with her record label over music distribution, which led to a break from recording. After that, she continued as an independent artist.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
