Archive material and source history

Takeuchi Megumi grew up in Akita before moving to Tokyo after high school. Her debut single "Anata ga waraeba ii" came out in 1996 and found a wide audience in Japan. She followed it with albums like "Moonlight" in 1997 and "Fairy Tale" the next year.

Her songs include "Doukoku no mori" and "Kanashimi no IRO-ZE," which share the direct, personal quality of her early work. She recorded a duet with Shigeru Izumiya called "Crying" and appeared on the compilation "Voices from the Heart."

In 2002 she was diagnosed with a neurological condition that affected her voice and mobility. She went through rehabilitation and eventually returned to performing.
