Talento Escogido

Talento Escogido formed in Mexico City during the 1950s, when a few musicians came together around their shared faith. They worked with the idea that music could carry spiritual messages in a way that felt immediate to listeners, not just formal or traditional.

Their song "De Rodillas" connected with people in Mexico and became something of an anthem. Other tracks like "Creyendo En El" and "Declaro" followed a similar path, direct, melodic, and built around straightforward declarations of belief. The lineup included vocalist Abelardo Pulido, guitarist Ruben Romero, bassist Martin Guerrero, and drummer Arturo Rojas.

Some religious voices questioned whether their approach, using accessible, popular styles for sacred themes, was appropriate. The band kept going anyway, recording a series of albums that leaned into that blend.
