Tales of Phantasia formed in Osaka in the late 1990s. Their debut album, 'Happy Happy!', came out in 2002, and its title track became a hit. The band faced some criticism early on for being too commercial, but they kept working.
They released several albums over the following years, including 'Starlight Serenade' in 2004, 'Butterfly Effect' in 2007, and 'Infinity' in 2010. In 2009, one member was arrested for drug possession, which hurt their reputation for a time. The group recovered and put out 'Harmonia' in 2013, which reached number one on the Oricon charts.
Other songs in their catalog include 'Hoshi wo Sora ni...', 'Yokan', 'Yume no Hate', and 'Yume Wa Owaranai'. The lineup has featured Airi Suzuki on vocals, Masato Nakayama on guitar, Yuji Kitamura on bass, Daisuke Yokoyama on keyboards, and Ryota Suzuki on drums.
