Tales Santos formed his band in 2010 with guitarist Rafael Farias, bassist Igor Cardoso, and drummer André de Souza. They're from Salvador, Bahia, where Santos had been singing in local churches and on the streets before that.
Their first single, "A Minha Paixão," came out in 2013 and did well on Brazilian charts. Other songs like "Menina Dos Meus Sonhos" and "Mãe Foi Você" followed. Santos has been known for speaking out about social issues in his lyrics, which has sometimes drawn criticism from more conservative listeners.
In 2016, some radio stations briefly stopped playing his music after accusations about drug references in his songs. He kept writing anyway, and the band continued putting out music.
