Tâmega

Tâmega is a Portuguese band that formed in 1999 with four members: Nuno Mestre on vocals and guitar, Rui Santos on accordion, João Cerqueira on bass, and Diogo Sousa on drums. They came together in the Tâmega region, drawing from local folk traditions while working those sounds into pop arrangements. Their debut album 'Terra de Sonhos' arrived in 2002.

That album included 'I Feel Good,' a song that caught on quickly and became their best-known track. Its upbeat rhythm and melody helped the band reach listeners outside Portugal, and they toured through Europe, Asia, and South America in the years that followed. Their live shows were known for being energetic and direct.

Later albums saw them folding in more rock and world-music touches, though they kept the accordion and cavaquinho close at hand. The early 2010s brought some difficulties, though the specifics aren't well documented in reliable sources.
