Tampa39 started in Tampa, Florida, in the late 2000s with vocalist Thaynara OG, guitarist and keyboardist Hugo Borges, bassist Nando Reis, and drummer Rafael Chaves. Their sound caught on locally, leading to a breakout in 2012 when the single "Cola Na Minha" topped Brazilian charts and gained them wider attention. That song, along with tracks like "El mexicano" and "Tudo Vai," defined their early run with a party-ready energy that drew both fans and criticism.
After Thaynara OG left the band following a 2014 arrest for drug possession, the remaining members continued as Tampa39 with new vocalist Amanda Magal. They released a live album, "Ao Vivo no Rio de Janeiro," in 2015, and later put out "Boteco do Tampa" in 2018. The group's catalog includes these recordings alongside earlier material like "Levantar, Sorrir e Caminhar" and "No Outro Lugar," maintaining a presence in the scene without the original frontwoman.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
