I caught you in the briar patch

Your hair was red, your skull was cracked

Your hands were clenched and teeth were gone

Your eyes were glass, your heart was stone

I looked at you and kissed your cheek

Your skin was wet, your skin was sweet

I held you up and cradled you

Your bones were tight, refused to move

Then suddenly to my surprise

Your mouth it smiled, your soul alive

Into the dirt we fall entwined

Your mouth agape, your neck in mine

You fed me dear with bright red love

Your fur like silk, your body blood

I'll let you sink into the ground

And let the earth reclaim you now

You kissed your God hands

Your lips pressed to dead flesh

And those same lips kissed me

Dead breath

I breathed it into you

My poison saliva sweet like honey

We lay together in dead fields

Dried earth split and ant-crawling

Skin scratched from yellow grass

My eyes have dried, lids stuck and frozen

And the rain comes

I renew, swollen with heaven-syrup

I turn to you, you're a husk

The green shoots writhe around you, the earth swallowing
