Taste

Taste was an Irish rock trio fronted by Rory Gallagher that formed in the late 1960s. The band included bassist Eric Kitteringham and drummer John Wilson. Their sound drew from blues and rock, with Gallagher's guitar work at the center. They released their debut album 'Taste' in 1969, followed by 'On the Boards' in 1970, which featured the single 'A Ghost Town For a Graveyard.'

That song, along with tracks like 'Sugar Mama' and 'Blister On The Moon,' showed Gallagher's approach to writing and playing. The band recorded a live album in 1971 before dissolving. Gallagher went on to a solo career, while Taste's original lineup had a relatively brief run.

Their music, particularly the studio albums and the live recordings, captured a certain energy of that period. The songs don't feel overly polished, which gives them a direct quality that some listeners still respond to. It's the kind of work that feels anchored to its time rather than trying to transcend it.
