Tata Santana formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s, led by singer-songwriter Martín "Tata" Santana. Their debut album "Acontecer" came out in 2002, with the title track becoming a hit. The band's sound mixes Argentine folk rhythms with rock, drawing from influences like Atahualpa Yupanqui and Mercedes Sosa alongside rock acts like The Beatles.
They followed up with albums in 2004, 2007, 2010, and 2013. Other songs like "Pra você" and "Só de Olhar" show their blend of folk and rock. In 2005, they dealt with a legal dispute over the band name, which was eventually resolved.
The current lineup includes Martín Santana on vocals and guitar, Ezequiel "Pali" Kauffman on bass, Juan "Topo" Raffo on drums, and Andrés "Chino" Aschero on lead guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
