Tata's formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s with Juanchi Baleirón on lead vocals, Mariano Martínez on guitar, William Constable on bass, and Beto Beto on drums. Their music pulled from rock, folk, and Latin rhythms, with lyrics that often touched on love, loss, and social justice.
In 2005, their album "Ladrón de sueños" drew criticism from religious groups over its cover art showing a burning crucifix. The band defended it as artistic expression. Four years later, their album "El grito del mojón" brought wider attention, particularly through the single "Desperta," which became a chart hit across Latin America.
Along with "Desperta," songs like "Preciosa," "Enche-me," and "Impossível" rounded out their catalog. The group maintained a raw, energetic sound through their recordings, anchored by Baleirón's songwriting and vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
