Tate Vikernes is a Norwegian musician who records under the name Burzum. He started the project in 1991, and it became part of the black metal scene that was developing in Norway at the time. The music is known for its raw, distorted sound and grim vocals, with lyrics that often draw from Norse mythology. Songs like 'Misinformation' and 'Regression Metamorphosis' are part of his catalog.
In 1993, Vikernes was convicted for the murder of Mayhem guitarist Øystein 'Euronymous' Aarseth and for arson. He served a prison sentence and was released in 2009. After his release, he continued to make music as Burzum, putting out albums like 'Belus' in 2010.
Burzum has always been essentially a solo project, with Vikernes handling vocals, guitars, bass, and production himself. He has released over a dozen studio albums, including early ones like 'Filosofem' from 1996.
