Archive material and source history
Taunusheim formed in the late 1970s with Claus Ebeling on vocals and guitar, Bernd Schütz on guitar, Hasso Wiedermann on bass, Charly Kittler on drums, and Rolf Breuer on keyboards. They came from the Taunus Mountains region, and their music drew from German folk traditions while working in a rock format.
In 1983 they released the album "Die Reise Zum Aar," whose title track became one of their best-known songs. Other tracks like "Followed By The Raven" and "Nebelkämpfe" show their style of melodic rock with narrative lyrics. They put out several albums through the 1980s and into the 1990s, including "Taunusheim" in 1980, "Im Spiegel der Zeit" in 1982, and "Das Ewige Licht" in 1985.
The band remained active for about two decades before winding down.
