Tavinho Santos

Tavinho Santos came from União dos Palmares, a place with its own history of slavery and resistance. He started putting out music in the early 1970s, with his self-titled album arriving in 1971.

His music often dealt with political themes, which led to trouble with authorities who saw his lyrics as inflammatory. He kept recording through it, putting out albums like 'O Povo Unido Jamais Será Vencido' in 1979. Other songs in his catalog include 'Cavalo de Aço' and 'É Loucura'.
