Tawagoto

Tawagoto is an electronic duo from Tokyo that started putting out music in the late 1990s. Their early single "Ben Sex" from 2000 became a cult favorite, built around dreamy synths and ethereal vocals. The group is Kiriko Takemura on vocals and Kuniyuki Takahashi handling production and instrumentation.

They released their debut album "Climax" in 2001, followed by other records like "Carmine" in 2003 and "Morphology" in 2007. Their sound incorporated ambient electronica and sometimes traditional Japanese instruments, though it stayed fairly experimental. Some of their other song titles include "Boné da Oakley," "Broken," and "Glock & Kazooie."

There were some copyright questions around a sample used in "Ben Sex," and the duo's unconventional style drew criticism from certain corners.
