Tawny formed in the early 2000s with vocalist Lexi Ryan, guitarist Ethan James, bassist Jake Carter, and drummer Max Davis. The band put out three albums between 2005 and 2010: "Once Upon a Dream," "The Heart of the Matter," and "Phoenix."
In 2006, Ethan James was arrested for drug possession, which led to a temporary break. The lineup changed later on when Jake Carter left in 2012 and Max Davis followed two years later. Lexi and Ethan brought in bassist Anya Petrova and drummer Gavin Scott to keep going.
