Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver formed in Brazil in 1993 with four members: Renan Inquérito on vocals and guitar, Gustavo Gadelha on lead guitar, Marcelo Gross on bass, and Alessandro Reis on drums. They put out their self-titled debut album the following year. The band's sound mixed rock, pop, and MPB, and they built a following through steady touring.

Their 1996 album 'Dias Vem Dias Vão' gave them their biggest hit with the title track, which became something of a national anthem for a certain generation. Other songs like 'A Procura' and 'Ei Garota' also found an audience. The lyrics often dealt with everyday themes of love and life, which some conservative groups occasionally criticized.

Taxi Driver kept recording into the early 2000s, releasing albums like 'Coisa Linda' in 1998 and 'Conflitos' in 2001. Their music from that period, straightforward and melodic, still gets played on Brazilian radio.
