Taxi Girl

Taxi Girl formed in Paris around 1978, originally called Les Statues. The band was led by Daniel Darc, with Mirwais Stass on guitar and synthesizers, Laurent Sinclair on bass, and Pierre Wolfsohn on drums. They put out two studio albums in the early 1980s, starting with their self-titled debut in 1980.

That first album included 'Cherchez Le Garçon,' which became something of a hit in France. Their sound mixed post-punk rhythms and angular guitars with synthesizers, drawing from figures like David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Kraftwerk. The lyrics, mostly written by Darc, tended toward introspective themes.

Their second album, 'Seppuku,' arrived in 1981 and leaned more experimental. The band's run was brief, and they faced some criticism for their unconventional style. Darc's personal struggles were also part of the story, though the music itself, tracks like 'High Glow' from that period, remains what most people recall.
