Tays Villaca came up in Juiz de Fora, and her first single "Assim Espero" came out in 2012. That song, along with others like "Coração Ruim" and "Meu Mar," helped her find an audience. She's worked with musicians like guitarist Bruno Severo and pianist Gabriela Falcão.
Her self-titled debut album arrived in 2014, followed by "Sol da Manhã" in 2017. The music pulls from bossa nova and MPB, and she's mentioned Marisa Monte and Chico Buarque as influences. There was some legal trouble around a song in 2016, but she kept recording after that.
