The Tea Party formed in Windsor, Ontario in 1990, with Jeff Martin on vocals and guitar, Stuart Chatwood on bass, and Jeff Burrows on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1993, which included tracks like 'Save Me' and 'Sister Awake.'

Their sound drew from Celtic folk traditions and rock, heard on albums like 'Edge of the World' in 1995 and 'Transmission' in 1997. Songs such as 'Heaven Coming Down' and 'Touch' became part of their catalog during this period.

Martin left the band in 2002, and Chatwood and Burrows continued as a duo, releasing 'Seven Circles' in 2004 and 'The Ocean at the End' in 2006. The trio reunited in 2011 for live shows and an album called 'The Messenger.'
