Team Dresch

Team Dresch formed in Olympia, Washington in 1993 with Kaia Wilson, Donna Dresch, and Jody Bleyle. Their name came from the German word 'dresch,' meaning 'to thrash,' which fit their raw live shows. They put out their first album 'Personal Best' in 1995.

Their songs like 'Fagetarian and Dyke' and 'Freewheel' tackled queer identity and gender roles directly, becoming anthems for some listeners while sparking debates about language and politics. The band's music mixed punk energy with experimental touches across albums like 'Cacophony' and 'Scream of the Butterfly.'

Team Dresch broke up in 2007 after years of touring and recording. Their straightforward approach to difficult subjects left a specific mark on the 1990s alternative scene, especially for listeners who found their bluntness refreshing.
