Archive material and source history

Telefon Tel Aviv was Josh Eustis and Charles Cooper, who started making music together in 2001. Their sound had a certain weightlessness to it, built from layered electronics and drifting melodies. You can hear it in tracks like 'At The Edge Of The World You Will' or 'Helen Of Troy', where the atmosphere feels both precise and slightly untethered.

They put out four albums between 2002 and 2009. The first, 'Immediate Action', set the tone with its experimental textures. 'Map of What Is Effortless' followed in 2004, and 'Immolate Yourself' arrived in 2006, leaning into darker territory. Their final album together was 2009's 'Dreams Are Not Enough'.

Eustis had done some work with other artists like Nine Inch Nails and Puscifer before and during the band's run. Cooper handled much of the engineering and production that gave their music its particular depth. Their records didn't fit neatly into one genre, sitting somewhere between ambient, electronica, and shoegaze.
