Tempting Tragedy

Tempting Tragedy formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s with vocalist Elysian Blackwood, guitarist Aiden Pierce, bassist Silas Thorne, and drummer Damien Shadowbane. They released three albums: 'Whispers of the Unseen' in 2005, 'Shadows Embrace' in 2008, and 'Dark Gift' in 2010. The title track from that last album, 'Dark Gift,' became one of their better-known songs.

Their sound pulled from gothic rock and alternative music, with lyrics that often touched on darker themes. The band's lineup changed at times, with members leaving and internal conflicts mentioned in some reports.

By the time they released 'Dark Gift,' Tempting Tragedy had settled into a pattern of moody, guitar-driven rock that appealed to a specific audience. Songs like 'Hell's Gates' and 'Good Day to Die' showed their consistent approach, even as the personnel around the core members shifted. They didn't dramatically reinvent their sound from album to album, but they maintained a recognizable presence in their corner of the rock scene.
