Ten Shekel Shirt formed in Brooklyn in 2007 around singer-songwriter Matty Carlock, with guitarist Alex Perlowitz, bassist Jason Distler, and drummer Jeremy Carper. Their first album, 'Somewhere in the Swamps,' came out in 2009.
Their second album, 'Always Known You,' arrived in 2012. The title track became a recognizable song for them, alongside others like 'Beauty' and 'February.'
After that, the band put out 'Our Youth Is Wasting' in 2014 and 'Cove' in 2018. Over time, members like Perlowitz and Carper left, with Carlock continuing with different musicians.
