Tentação S/A formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s, a group of musicians drawn together by samba. Their sound was built around Jair Rodrigues' distinctive vocals and Airto Moreira's percussion work.

Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1972, anchored by the single "Chance Pra Te Amar." That song's syncopated rhythm and Rodrigues' delivery connected with listeners, becoming a hit on Brazilian charts.

After Moreira left the band in 1973, they continued working. Their later material began to incorporate other influences beyond their samba foundation.
