Tequendama formed in Bogotá in the early 1980s with Pedro Rovetto on vocals and guitar, Miguel de Narváez on bass, Felipe Ortiz on guitar, and Alejandro Olarte on drums. They took their name from the Tequendama Falls north of the city. Their 1985 album 'El Cometa' gave them a foothold in Colombian rock, with the title track becoming something of an anthem for its atmospheric sound and cosmic imagery.
Their music leaned toward prog rock and experimentalism, which sometimes put them at odds with more mainstream Colombian rock. The 1988 album 'Huellas' included a cover of Pink Floyd's 'Mother' and explored darker themes that drew criticism alongside admiration. Later albums like 'Luna Llena' in 1990 and 'Arlequín' in 1995 incorporated Andean folk, jazz, and world music elements.
One of their other notable songs is 'Perfecto Error.'
