Archive material and source history

Teresa Bright formed in 1991 as a duo with sisters Teresa and Lisa Bright, who grew up on Molokaʻi. Their early performances leaned on traditional Hawaiian material and contemporary songs, built around their vocal blend. The group's first album came out in 1993, simply titled 'Teresa Bright.'

In 1993, they released 'E Mau,' a song that connected with the Hawaiian sovereignty movement and brought them wider attention. That track, along with others like 'Hawaiian Vamp' and 'He Aloha No ʻo Honolulu,' appeared on their albums through the 1990s, including 'Ke Aloha Nei' in 1995 and 'E Mau' in 1997.

Lisa Bright left the group in 1996, and Teresa continued with changing musicians, sometimes including her husband Patrick Landeza. They put out one more studio album, 'Lei of Love,' in 2000. The group disbanded in 2005 after a brief reunion.
