Teresa De Sio

Teresa De Sio was born in Naples in 1952, and her debut album came out in 1978. The title track "Ma Che Bella Cosa" became an immediate hit, introducing her melancholic style and poetic approach to songwriting. She grew up with Neapolitan folk traditions, which would later surface in her work.

Her discography includes over twenty albums, with songs like "Pizzica" and "Tarantà" reflecting her interest in Mediterranean sounds. She has worked with other Italian musicians including Franco Battiato and Lucio Dalla. The band for her live shows has featured players like guitarist Antonio Marangolo and saxophonist Daniele Sepe.

De Sio's lyrics often address love, loss, and women's experiences, and her outspoken nature has sometimes drawn criticism. She received the Tenco Award for Italian singer-songwriters. While she maintains a cult following, her music remains grounded in the folk traditions of her hometown.
