Tereza Kesovija

Tereza Kesovija was born in Zagreb in 1938 and started singing early. After winning a televised competition in 1958, she became a household name in Yugoslavia during the 1960s, performing on radio and television. Her repertoire included folk songs and her own compositions.

In 1969 she released "Forca maestro," a song that resonated with many Croats during a difficult period. The track became something of an anthem, though it also drew criticism from Yugoslav authorities in the 1970s for its perceived nationalist themes. She kept performing through it all.

Her catalog includes songs like "Kristinka," "Na stradunu," and "Sretan rođendan," spanning several decades. She recorded albums like "Tereza" in 1962 and "Forca Maestro" in 1969, and kept working into the 2000s with releases like "Sveta ljubav" in 2001.
