Background notes

Archive material and source history

Terror Empire formed in Birmingham in 1996, with Jamie Bower on vocals, Mark Harper on guitar, and Steve Pegrum on bass. They worked in industrial metal, a sound that drew from earlier acts like Nine Inch Nails. Their debut album 'Hatecore' came out in 2000.

The band's lineup shifted over time, with drummers and keyboardists coming and going. In 2003, Bower's diagnosis of bipolar disorder interrupted their touring schedule.

Terror Empire put out 'Terminal' in 2004, but tensions between Bower and Harper grew, and the group split up not long after. They got back together a decade later with a different lineup and released 'Supernova'. Songs like 'Dirty Bomb' and 'Redemptive Punishment' show their aggressive, confrontational style.
