That Petrol Emotion formed in 1984 with Steve Mack, John McGeogh, Damien O'Neill, and Ciaran McLaughlin. Their debut album 'Manic Pop Thrill' came out in 1986, and they followed it with records like 'Firebird' in 1989 and 'Chemicrazy' in 1990. Songs like 'Big Decision' and 'Abandon' show the kind of jangly guitar pop and post-punk leanings they were known for.
McGeogh left the band in 1989 after dealing with manic depression, which had forced them to cancel a planned American tour. O'Neill departed in 1994, citing creative differences and tensions within the group. The band kept going without him, putting out 'Final Flame' in 1996 and 'Songs for Swinging Lovers' in 1998 before dissolving.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
