A Chicago band that made straightforward emo-pop with songs like 'About A Girl' and 'Slow Down'.
For their sound, 'About A Girl' is the obvious one. But 'Paper Chase' and 'Absolution' from that first album hold up, too.
They arrived right when emo was crossing over, and 'About A Girl' got regular radio play in 2005. That song and 'Slow Down' had a direct, uncomplicated sound that connected. Their debut album 'Almost Here' captured a specific moment for a lot of listeners.
They formed in Chicago in the early 2000s and put out 'Almost Here' in 2005. After 'Santi' in 2007 and 'Fast Times at Barrington High' in 2011, they went on hiatus and broke up in 2012. They came back to play shows in 2022.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
