The Amazing Blondel was a British folk-rock trio formed in the mid-1960s by brothers John and Terry Lever with Eddie Baird. They took their name from a medieval minstrel and built their sound around traditional folk melodies with contemporary touches, playing pubs and clubs while developing a following.
Their 1972 album "Fantasia Lindum" received critical attention for its intricate arrangements and thoughtful lyrics. Among their best-known songs are "Afterglow," "Anthem," and "Benedictus es Domine," which showcase their blend of medieval-inspired harmonies and folk-rock instrumentation.
In 1974, the band recorded what would become one of their most enduring tracks, "Afterglow." The song's gentle acoustic textures and layered vocals came to represent their particular approach to British folk music during that period.
