Archive material and source history
The Anniversary formed in Lawrence, Kansas in 1997 with Josh Berwanger on vocals and guitar, Christian Jankowski on guitar, Justin Roelofs on bass, and Adam Pierce on drums. Their debut album 'Designing a Nervous Breakdown' came out in 1999, featuring songs like '100 Ships' and 'All Things Ordinary' that connected with listeners through shimmering guitars and heartfelt lyrics.
They followed up with 'Your Majesty' in 2001, but the band broke up in 2004. After reuniting in 2008, Roelofs left following a public dispute with Berwanger. The Anniversary reissued their debut album in 2019.
