The Barr Brothers formed in Montreal around 2005, with brothers Brad and Andrew Barr at the center. They're joined by harpist Sarah Pagé, which gives their folk-rock sound an unusual texture. Their first album came out in 2008, and they followed it with 'Sleeping Operator' in 2011.
Songs like 'Even The Darkness Has Arms' and 'Beggar In The Morning' show their way with quiet, thoughtful arrangements. They've put out several records since, including 'Queens of the Breakers' in 2017 and 'Songs for Guacamayo' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
