The Book of Life formed in Los Angeles with Daniel Johnson on vocals and guitar, Gabriel Garcia on bass, Michael Hughes on drums, and Sarah Wilson on keyboards. Their 2007 single 'I Love You Too Much' became a global hit, though it arrived with plagiarism allegations that the band denied.

Their debut album 'Love, Loss, and Redemption' came out that same year, followed by 'Echoes of the Heart' in 2010 and 'The Phoenix' in 2013. Other songs in their catalog include 'Si Puedes Perdonar' and 'The Apology Song'.

They released a fourth album called 'Unbreakable' in 2016. The band's earlier EP from 2005 was simply titled 'The Book of Life'.
