The Breeders started in 1989 as a side project for Kim Deal, who was playing bass and singing for the Pixies at the time. She formed the band with her twin sister Kelley Deal and Josephine Wiggs. Their first album, 'Pod,' came out in 1990.
Their second album, 'Last Splash' from 1993, had the single 'Cannonball,' which got a lot of radio play and brought them wider attention. That record also had songs like 'Divine Hammer' and 'No Aloha.' The band's lineup has shifted over time, with Kim Deal as the consistent member. They put out albums in 2002 ('Title TK') and 2008 ('Mountain Battles'), then went quiet for a while.
In 2018, Kim Deal and Josephine Wiggs got the band going again. They released a self-titled album in 2020. Other songs in their catalog include 'Off You,' 'Do You Love Me Now?,' and 'Drivin' On 9.'
