The Brendan Hines started in Freehold, New Jersey, where Brendan Hines wrote songs on his own. Their first album, "Sowing Seeds," came out in 2008 and got some attention for its moody, thoughtful feel. They toured with Death Cab for Cutie and The National around that time.
Their second album, "Morning Fire," had the song "Could've Sworn," which became their most recognizable track. Other songs like "Don't Meddle" and "Miss New York" showed Hines's way with lyrics that felt personal and direct.
After a few years away, they came back in 2017 with "The Wayside," which sounded a bit more settled. The album kept that straightforward indie rock feel, with songs like "Life Story" and "Guess What" continuing in the same vein as their earlier work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
