The Bronx Casket Co.

The Bronx Casket Co. formed in Brooklyn in the early 2000s with Matt Caughthran on vocals, Rob Bonaccorsi on guitar, Noah Schlifstein on bass, and Steven Taylor on drums. They started playing shows in small clubs around the city, working with a DIY approach that fit their dark, atmospheric sound. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2003, followed by 'Sweet Home Transylvania' in 2006, which included the track 'BCC/Sweet Home Transylvania' and became their most recognized work.

Their music blends gothic rock with punk energy, creating brooding songs like 'Black Valentine' and 'Blue Collar Horror.' They've collaborated with artists like David Eugene Edwards from Wovenhand and Chris Connelly, which added some experimental touches to their recordings. The band's lineup has stayed mostly consistent over time, with Caughthran remaining the frontman.

In 2019, the group faced a lawsuit from a former manager over royalty disputes. Their lyrics, which often explore dark themes, have drawn occasional criticism, but they've maintained a dedicated following in the underground scene. Songs like 'Jesus Doesn't Live Here Anymore' and 'Sewing the Dead' continue to resonate with listeners who appreciate their macabre, introspective style.
