The Chaz

The Chaz formed in Rio de Janeiro around singer Renato Casanova, guitarist Ronny Barboza, and drummer Marcelo Luminato. Their 2003 debut album included the song "Não Tava Nos Meus Planos," which became a hit in Brazil. The track's acoustic guitar work and Casanova's vocals connected with listeners, helping establish the band's presence.

Later albums like 2014's "O Amor Está No Ar" showed the group incorporating samba and bossa nova touches into their pop sound. Songs such as "A Reviravolta" and "Bem-vindos Ao Show" continued their run of melodic, rhythm-driven material. The band worked with composers like Chico César and Wilson Sideral at various points.

They released music through 2021's "As Canções Que Amamos," maintaining a steady output of albums over nearly two decades. The Chaz's catalog includes straightforward pop songs with Brazilian rhythmic elements, avoiding dramatic stylistic shifts in favor of consistent, accessible arrangements.
