Archive material and source history
The Cherry Coke$ formed in Shibuya after frontman Yutaka Maeda met bassist Masaki Kageyama and drummer Takaya Yamaguchi. They started playing small gigs, working through lineup changes and financial struggles. Kageyama left the band at some point to do other music.
In 2004, they put out their debut single "My Story ~Mada Minu Ashita He~," a ballad about hope that caught on with listeners and helped them get more attention. The song led to tours and work with other artists.
Maeda and Yamaguchi eventually regrouped.
