The Donnas formed in Palo Alto, California in 1993 while the members were still in high school. The lineup stayed consistent with Donna Avedon on vocals, Allison Robertson on guitar, Maya Ford on bass, and Torry Castellano on drums. They put out their self-titled debut album in 1997.
Their sound was straightforward punk rock with catchy melodies. Songs like 'Take It Off' and 'Do You Wanna Go Out With Me?' had a direct, uncomplicated energy. They released several albums through the early 2000s, including 'Get Skintight' in 1999, 'Turn 21' in 2001, and 'Gold Medal' in 2003.
The band stopped playing together in 2014. For about twenty years, they made loud, simple rock music with a consistent four-person lineup from their teenage years onward.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
