The Ex Girlfriends formed in Los Angeles in 2007 with five members: Johanna Warren on vocals and guitar, Laura Memolo on drums, Sarah Hopkins on lead guitar, Vanessa Becker on bass, and Jamie Graham on keyboards. They put out their first album, "It's Not Our Fault," the following year.
Their 2010 single "We Are the Party (feat. Lupe Fuentes)" got them wider attention. The band released five studio albums between 2008 and 2018, including "Love and War" in 2012 and "Resistance" in 2018. They stopped playing together in 2021.
