The Goes formed in the mid-1990s as a trio with Zé Salvador on vocals, Paulo Carvalho on bass, and Jorge Loureiro on guitar. Their 1998 debut album "Pimba É Disto" included the song "Cara calhorda," which became widely popular in Portugal.
Their music, often described as part of the "pimba" genre, featured catchy melodies with humorous and sometimes vulgar lyrics. Another track, "Suprasumo," appeared among their top songs. They released several albums through the early 2000s, including "Pimba Sem Limites" in 1999.
While their songs played at parties and festivals, some radio stations refused to broadcast them, and critics accused the band of promoting disrespect. In 2002, Portuguese authorities investigated them for alleged incitement.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
