The High Speed Scene came out of London's punk scene in the late 1970s. Their sound was raw and aggressive, a contrast to the polished pop that was popular then. They were led by frontman Eddie Harper, who went by Eddie Love.
Their song 'Fuck N' Spend' became something of an anthem. Their lyrics often dealt with themes of sex, drugs, and violence, which drew criticism.
They released their self-titled debut album in 1979. They followed it with records like 'Faster and Louder' in 1983 and a live album from the Electric Ballroom in 1984. Their live shows were known for being intense and chaotic.
